What’s in My Bag?

Starting out as a photographer, I literally had zero idea how to use my camera, let alone what kind of gear to buy to do the work I was passionate about. I’ve had some changes of heart over the last year and a half, but have finally landed on a set of equipment I vibe with.

TEAM CANON OR TEAM NIKON?

Now, the biggest question in the photography community is: Team Canon or Team Nikon. I can confidently say that I honestly love both. What? I know — just choose a side right? But, I can’t. Each one has its pros and cons for different photographers. I started out as a Canon girl in college with my trusty Rebel T2i, moved to a Mark 5D ii and then switched systems entirely to get my baby I have now, a Nikon D610.

I loved the Canon interface, but I just can’t argue with Nikon glass.

So, what’s in my bag? Let’s break it down (insert party boy music).

BODY:

Nikon D750
Nikon D610

LENSES:

50mm 1.8 (basically never leaves my camera)
28-75mm 2.8 (perfect for large group shots or details of the rings)
70-200mm 2.8 (gotta love this low-light lens for everything from the ceremony to reception)

FLASH:

SB-800
Phottix Strato ii Transmitter and Receiver for off-camera flash

MEMORY:

Four 64GB SD Cards (my main cards for both of my camera slots since I shoot RAW)
32GB (backup)
16GB (super backup)

EXTRAS:

Pack of AA Batteries (for my flash)
Extra Charged Camera Battery
Reflector
Lens Hoods
VINTA camera bag (a true life changer)

I tend to keep my arsenal pretty simple in comparison to other photographers, but that’s my style and how I love to operate. I don’t use off-camera flashes until the reception or set up extravagant scenes for my photos. I want the images to be as natural as possible because, in the end, that’s when the authentic and genuine moments you’ll love come through.

I’m a firm believer in natural light, telling jokes to get a smile and a little silly butt grab from the groom to bride that always loosens the mood 🙂
